| dc.description | The main trends in the world market are presented, in comparison with the palm sector has a great growth potential in its agricultural development. Among the trends, the maintenance of subsidies and distortions, the substantial growth in the demand for some products such as fruits, vegetables, meats, raw materials for animal feed and vegetable oils in the Asiatic countries with high growth and huge populations (China, Indonesia, India, Malaysia, Thailand and Vietnam) are mentioned, since, although some of them presently have important cultivated areas, in approximately 10 years their local production will not be enough to satisfy their internal necessities and they will have to import more than 50% of the total projected internal consumption; the trend towards the rise in prices and lower inventories; the increase in exportations of processed products, the increment in the production scales and the greater integration of the productive chains and the increasing demand for quality in healthy and ecological goods. All of the above mentioned aspects become a potential opportunity for the country's palm sector, since the present percentage of land destined for permanent pastures and forest uses is high. Due to its climatic and soil conditions, Colombia has all the conditions given to increase its agricultural area and raise its agricultural, cattle, forest and fishing production. | en-US |
| dc.description | Se presentan las principales tendencias del mercado mundial frente a las cuales el sector palmero tiene un gran potencial de crecimiento en su desarrollo agrícola. Entre las tendencias se menciona el mantenimiento de subsidios y distorsiones; el sustancial crecimiento de la demanda de algunos productos como frutas, hortalizas, carnes, materias primas para alimentación animal y aceites vegetales en los países asiáticos con elevado crecimiento y altas poblaciones (China, Indonesia, India, Malasia, Tailandia y Vietnam) pues, aunque algunos de ellos presentan en la actualidad importantes áreas cultivadas, en 10 años aproximadamente, su producción local no alcanzará para suplir sus necesidades internas y tendrán que importar más del 50% del total proyectado de consumo interno; la tendencia al alza de precios y menores inventarios; el aumento en las exportaciones de productos procesados, el incremento de las escalas de producción y la mayor integración de las cadenas productivas y la exigencia cada vez mayor de calidad en bienes sanos y ecológicos. Todos los aspectos anteriores se convierten en una oportunidad potencial para el sector palmero del país pues el porcentaje actual de tierras destinadas a pasturas permanentes y usos forestales es elevado. Por las condiciones climáticas y de suelos, Colombia tiene todas las condiciones dadas para aumentar su área agrícola e incrementar su producción agrícola, ganadera, forestal y pesquera. | es-ES |
