Abstract
A general presentation is made of the ecological products world market as well as some considerations on the potential that edible oils have in this market, especially palm oil. Subjects are covered such as new tendencies in food consumption towards the consumption of natural products and those free of chemical residues, within which ecological products are especially important since this is a regulated market and controlled in terms of quality. The development of technological alternatives for agricultural production, one of which is the ecological production as a production which does not use chemical synthesis raw materials and is based on the sustainable handling of the soil and diversified production systems. The present situation on regulations of ecological production in the world and in Colombia and the scopes that said regulations have for the Colombian producer. Certification process of ecological products carried out according to the regulations by specialized entities that are not committed in the production and commercialization of the products. Conditions that a product should fulfill in order to be certified. Description of the world market of ecological products, supply and demand and price situation. The case of edible oils with reference to palm oil : offering countries, qualities, characteristics of the demand and commercialization channels. Se hace una presentación general del mercado mundial de productos ecológicos y algunas consideraciones sobre el potencial que en este mercado tienen los aceites comestibles en particular el aceite de palma y se cubren temas tales como nuevas tendencias del consumo de alimentos hacia el consumo de productos naturales y libres de residuos químicos, dentro de los cuales los productos ecológicos son particularmente importantes por ser un mercado regulado y controlado en términos de calidad. Desarrollo de alternativas tecnológicas para la producción agrícola, una de las cuales es la producción ecológica como producción que no utiliza insumos de síntesis química y se basa en un manejo sostenible del suelo y sistemas de producción diversificados. Situación actual sobre la reglamentación de producción ecológica en el mundo y en Colombia y los alcances que dichas reglamentaciones tienen para el productor colombiano. Proceso de certificación de productos ecológicos realizada de acuerdo con los reglamentos por entidades especializadas y no comprometidas en la producción y comercialización de los productos. Condiciones que debe cumplir un productor para ser certificado. Descripción del mercado mundial de productos ecológicos, oferta y demanda y situación de precios. El caso de los aceites comestibles con referencia al aceite de palma: países oferentes, calidades, características de la demanda, canales de comercialización.
