| dc.description | The seeds commercialized by the CIRAD are a result of joint research, in which various partners bring their vegetal materials and other resources. This allows all to make use of the results obtained for each one. Even though productivity is an important goal, the search of vegetal materials resistant to the Fusariosis in Africa, the Ganoderma in Asia, and the various bud rots in Latin America is the main objective right now. There are also other objectives such as to facilitate the harvest and improve the annual division of the production. A low growth in height of the palm and the indehiscence of the fruits, are some of the most important characteristics to facilitate the harvest and reduce costs. The introduction of new populations in the breeding program should allow a diversification of the vegetal material available to the users, and consequently, a more even distribution of the annual production. The growing of tissues must allow to value the results of the researches more quickly. The new bio-molecular techniques will also allow to increase the selection intensity for each cycle. These techniques will be taken into account within the new breeding scheme. | en-US |
| dc.description | Las semillas comercializadas por el CIRAD resultan de investigaciones llevadas conjuntamente por varios grupos de investigación que ponen en común sus materiales vegetales y sus recursos, lo que permite a todos aprovechar los resultados obtenidos por cada uno. Aunque la productividad es un objetivo importante, la búsqueda de materiales vegetales resistentes a la fusariosis en África, al Ganoderma en Asia y a las varias pudriciones del cogollo en América Latina es ahora el objetivo prioritario. También existen otros objetivos tal como facilitar la cosecha y mejorar la repartición anual de la producción. Un crecimiento en altura reducido y la indehiscencia de los frutos, son unos de los caracteres más interesantes a seleccionar para facilitar la cosecha y reducir su costo. La introducción de nuevas poblaciones en el esquema de mejoramiento debe permitir una diversificación del material vegetal propuesto a los utilizadores y llegar así a una repartición más regular de la producción anual. El cultivo de tejidos debe permitir valorizar más rápidamente los resultados de las investigaciones. Las nuevas técnicas biomoleculares también permitirán aumentar la intensidad de selección a cada ciclo. Serán tomadas en cuenta dentro del esquema de mejoramiento. | es-ES |
