Abstract
The need to constantly optimize the processes, the new world competitivity trends which involve the control of the environment and the security, without leaving aside the more demanding quality standards, obliges industries to be more efficient and safe in their products. This has eased the development of automatization as a means to improve productivity and competitivity in the industries, especially in the last 10 years. This has been possible thanks to the computer technological advances especially in the field of microprocessors which are more powerful every day. In the oil industry, the automatization is applicable in all the extraction processes, beginning with the arrival of the fruit in the mill and including the clarifying and the distribution of the final product. Reporting benefits in the milling process by reducing the losses because of variations in the operations conditions as well as the reduction of the inactive equipment periods, and the diminishing of costs related to stops and runs. Consequently, a safe and efficient production is obtained at any time of the day or night, with a direct effect on the oil extraction rates, and subsequently on the yield of the process. Nowadays, there is enough information and successful stories around the world in countries such as Malaysia, Indonesia, etc. with combined systems that use hydraulics as the most important transversal technology that involves product movement (including presses) and electronics as logical commander of all processes.
