Abstract
This article presents an overview of current conditions of oil energy reserves and petroleum derived products in Colombia and the world, and discusses global trends in the oil refining business. Colombia is implementing measures to improve the quality of its gasoline and diesel fuel. It also continues to promote bio-fuel consumption as a substitute for fossil fuels, in order to reduce imports and mitigate environmental effects. In the future, the country will develop more efficient transportation strategies.
