Abstract
This work shows the importance of biodiesel and how its properties change depending on the type of oil used as raw material. It also shows the range of fuels that have been tested and some relevant properties that may have affect the final price of the product. It also demonstrates that the different types of raw materials used to produce biodiesel, as long as they comply with quality standards, do not produce important differences in terms of the main operational variables of engines. En este trabajo se muestra la importancia que tiene el biodiesel, independientemente de la fuente a partir de la cual se elabore, y cómo se afectan sus propiedades de acuerdo con las del aceite que se utilice como materia prima; posteriormente se muestra la batería de combustibles ensayados y algunas propiedades relevantes que pueden influir en el precio final del producto; igualmente se muestra que el biodiesel, independientemente de la materia prima de procedencia, mientras cumpla estándares de calidad, no presenta diferencias importantes en las principales variables de funcionamiento del motor.
