Abstract
The oil palm in Colombia is one of the most important crops for the established area, the jobs generated andthe income to the regions and the country through exports of crude palm oil and its derivatives. However, thecrop is not without agronomic problems, especially pests and diseases. In the case of the Agroindustrias VillaClaudia plantation, the palms have been presenting an orange leaf foliage that can be attributed to the attackof the Retracrus elaeis Keifer mite or potassium deficiency.The realization of this work seeks to determine the degree of relationship between leaf orangening, potassium deficiency and frond mite, and establish control of the mite with a dose and form of application that provides effective control. For the fulfillment of the objectives set, methods were developed such as: method for evaluating leaf orangening; method for mite counting; method for the evaluation and distribution of the population of R. elaeis, by degree of leaf orangening; method to know the nutritional contents of the leaf area; method to determine vegetative variables; method for assessing the impact of sulfur doses on the populations of the R. elaeis mite. The development of this investigation allowed to verify the association between the Retracrus elaeis Keifermite and leaf orange of the palms of the Agroindustrias Villa Claudia plantation and to ratify that the application of colloidal sulfur in foliar spray allows the reduction of the mite populations.La palma de aceite en Colombia es uno de los cultivos de mayor importancia por el área establecida, los empleos y los ingresos generados a las regiones y al país, a través de las exportaciones de aceite de palma crudo y sus derivados. Sin embargo, el cultivo no está exento de problemas agronómicos, especialmente plagas y enfermedades. En el caso de la plantación Agroindustrias Villa Claudia, las palmas han venido presentando un anaranjamiento en la lámina foliar que puede ser atribuido al ataque del ácaro Retracrus elaeis Keifer o a la deficiencia de potasio. La realización de este trabajo busca determinar el grado de relación existente entre el anaranjamiento foliar, la deficiencia de potasio y el ácaro de fronde, y establecer el control del mismo con una dosis y forma de aplicación que brinde un control eficaz. Para el cumplimiento de los objetivos trazados se desarrollaron métodos tales como: método para evaluar anaranjamiento foliar; método para el conteo de ácaros; método para la evaluación y distribución de la población de R. elaeis, por grado de anaranjamiento foliar; método para conocer los contenidos nutricionales del área foliar; método para determinar variables vegetativas; y método para evaluación del impacto de las dosis de azufre sobre las poblaciones del ácaro R. elaeis. El desarrollo de esta investigación permitió verificar la asociación entre el ácaro Retracrus elaeis Keifer y el anaranjamiento foliar de las palmas de la plantación Agroindustrias Villa Claudia, y ratificar que la aplicación de azufre coloidal en aspersión foliar permite la reducción de las poblaciones del ácaro.
