Abstract
The Philippines continues to be the largest supplier in the world market for coconut oil. However, its dominance is precarious. Coconut oil is but a small portion of the world lauric oil market. The Philippines has a mounumental task before it in maintaining its leadership in coconut production and trade. The task involves the allocation of public expenditures to improve the productivity of the coconut tree farms and to increase investments in roas infraestructure and other postproduction facilities, which will certainly lead to lower marketing costs, greater income for producers, and more competitive prices for exporters.The Philippines continues to be the largest supplier in the world market for coconut oil.
