Abstract
Geographic Information System (GIS) is a computer system which sotres, analyses, and displays both spatial and non-spatial data. There are three fundamental GIS applications: database management, computer cartography and spatial analysis. The unique capability of GIS lies in its spatial analysis though data integration. This paper describes five applications of a GIS used by the R and D at oil palm plantations of PT Salim Indoplantation in riau, i.e. Resources inventory, Estate performance monitoring/Map production, analysis of FFB yield, Monitoring of pest attack, and Modeling of flood hazard.
