Palm oil as a plantation commodity becomes an important commodity for economics system in The World. Recently, extension of planting area get challenge related to environmental issue and degradation of economic effort. Strive product increase and development of oil palm must be done by optimally potency product of oil palm by more intensive enterprising through repairing of agricultural practice at existing of oil palm planting and avoid extending area at marginal land. One of agricultural practice which conducted at this research is optimal productivity of oil palm by using various oil palm varieties that have compact canopy and arrangement of crop density. To determine the response of some oil palm varieties that planted at high density, it was done observation during Augustus 2006 on the September, 2001 planting area. The area located at Membang Muda Plantation, PTP Nusantara III, Aek Kanopan, North Sumatera. The trial was designed in factorial random completely block design, with 2 factor treatment, that were 6 IOPRI's oil palm varieties and 2 types density (high, 181 plant ha-1 and standard, 128 plant ha-1). The observation variables include vegetative and generative organs. The result showed that the early vegetative performance identified environment stress occurring in leaves rachis. The leaves rachis of Rispa, Yangambi, Dolok Sinumbah, and Dolok Sinumbah x Bah Jambi varieties at high density planted was longer compare to normal density, while LaMe showed more tolerance phenomenon under that condition. Commonly, the total of fresh fruit bunch (FFB) and female inflorescence bunch each plant on high density was not significance differenced with standard density for several varieties. Therefore, in the area with high density produced higher FFB and female inflorescence bunch than standard density. Productivity potency of FFB on the high density about 22.5-3.6 ton ha-1 year-1. This productivity higher (about 34%) compare to standard density (about 17.7-22.9 ton ha-1 year-1). Based on early vegetative and productivity potency performance, LaMe variety was evaluated as great potency material that could use in the oil palm density practice management system. But, it we should consider about the physiological stress of plant and thinning out technique in the later time.
