Abstract
An update of 3 projects (K fertilizer and land preparation technique; fertilizer and planting density; and micronutrient nutrition of oil palm on peat) carried out at the Peat Research Station in Teluk Intan, Perak, Malaysia during 1985-94 with 7 years of cropping is presented. The planting density, mechanical compaction, macro- and micronutrient requirements, and leaning incidence of oil palm on peat are discussed and tables of figures presented. Recommendations are then made for best practice in these areas. It is concluded that performance of oil palm on peat is equally as good, possibly better than on mineral soils in Malaysia.
