The Malaysian rubber plantation sector is currently regarded as the most important source of rubberwood [Hevea brasiliensis] for the wood-based industry. Annually around 2 million m3 of rubberwood logs are extracted, producing 500 000 m3 of sawntimber, various furniture types and furniture components.
