The techniques in seed processing for commercial oil palm seed production have remained largely unchanged for the past four decades. Typically they involve much cumbersome use of labour, work space, shelves and polythene bags. This paper reports on productivity improvements made in the seed processing techniques mainly through the use of industrial plastic containers and hand trolley carts besides streamlining the processes. Cost savings of 69 per cent in labour and 66 per cent material have been achieved. Commercial seed production productivity and seedling quality have also improved.
