Situación del biodiésel en Europa: Nueva Directiva (RED II) recientemente aprobada por la Unión Europea en relación a las energías renovables para el periodo enero 2021- diciembre 2030, en con- traste con la actual directiva (RED I) en vigor hasta diciembre de 2020. Problema de la deforestación y qué se puede hacer para acabar con este. Mejora de la productividad del cultivo de palma asociado a una reducción de la huella de carbono. Ingesta calórica, malnutrición y sobrepeso, y problemática en cuanto a los contaminantes ésteres de 3-MCPD y glicidol, el ácido palmítico y los ácidos grasos saturados. Percepción del consumidor europeo del aceite de palma vs. evidencia científica. Consumo de aceites en Europa para biocombustibles y alimentación. Contribución del aceite de palma al cumplimiento de los objetivos de Desarrollo Sostenible de las Naciones Unidas. Promoción del aceite de palma como oportunidad para su desarrollo futuro.
