Strategy for safety evaluation of transgenic food plants.
Abstract
Using the examples of genetically modified soyabeans (Glycine max) and maize, methods of testing foods and products derived from them are discussed. The assessment of possible risks attributed to allergies, toxicity, altered food composition and thegenetic consequences of inserted transgenes on neighbouring genes are outlined.
